A Chinese internet user posted a thread on the Chinese Beweme community describing this error. The URL of the original post is: https://cn.beweme.com/post/66
What the author is saying is roughly this: When he used DeepL to translate Chinese into Vietnamese, there was a phrase that read “our country,” and DeepL translated it as “within China.”
What the Chinese author meant to say was that “our country” refers to Vietnam, but DeepL translated the text from a first-person perspective as if the Chinese were speaking, and there was no button to switch the perspective.
So this Chinese author thought it was a bug, but since DeepL doesn’t offer rewards to people who report bugs, he didn’t report it to the official team; instead, he posted about it directly in a Chinese online forum.
Do you think this minor error will affect your use of the translation? I think everyone should be aware of this issue; when using DeepL for translation, you should check whether the results are accurate.
